In case somebody has actually noticed, i've removed all of the news feeds from this site. They were mostly there to keep me informed about the things i'm interested in, and i've found a much better way: Mozilla Thunderbird. I kept feeds on my site because i need to stay abreast of them for professional development reasons. Thunderbird offers a way to do that without getting overwhelmed by the volume of data.
To use the feeds, simply create a new account of type "RSS News and Blogs". Then when you find a site with a feed you're interested in, simply add that site's feed to your subscriptions list in your "News and Blogs" account in Thunderbird. Then your feeds will show up just like email messages, including (most importantly) whether you've read them yet or not. For IT managers like me who have to keep abreast of what 130 staff, 1100 students, and 500 computers need, this is a God-send.
