One more reason not to enable Flash

US-CERT is reporting yet another vulnerability in Flash, relating to privilege escalation. If you use Flash, best practice is to do it with a Firefox plugin like noscript, I for one am glad that Flash is not supported at all on 64-bit platforms. :-)

Graphing Biblical genealogies

When i got to the genealogies in Chronicles in my daily Bible readings, i figured i'd try to have some fun with them, since i usually find them rather dry. So i decided to use the automatic graph drawing package graphviz to create a visualisation of the data in the genealogies. The results so far, which can be seen in the attached diagram, are quite interesting.

Contemplating my mobile computing platform

For the past 3 years, i've used a Dell Axim X50v as my take-everywhere computer. It has served me well (i typed some of this article on it), but is on its last legs now, and i'm a bit unsure about where to go next. Mobile computing has changed a lot in the last 3 years, and i'm not sure whether the same type of device is still viable. Also, the problems of mobile computing whilst using Linux on the desktop are still troublesome.
