Software release: photo-importer

Today marks the initial release of my new Linux utility, Photo Importer. I wrote it because i couldn't find a Linux image management utility whose import functions didn't require manual intervention. Photo Importer's goal is to provide reliable, hands-off import of media from digital cameras for Linux and the GNOME desktop. Contemplating my mobile computing platform

For the past 3 years, i've used a Dell Axim X50v as my take-everywhere computer. It has served me well (i typed some of this article on it), but is on its last legs now, and i'm a bit unsure about where to go next. Mobile computing has changed a lot in the last 3 years, and i'm not sure whether the same type of device is still viable. Also, the problems of mobile computing whilst using Linux on the desktop are still troublesome.
