One of the things that constantly amazes me is the depth of beauty we can see in God's creation all around us. This photo was taken in my back yard after i had thrown the kitchen scraps into the compost heap. This little guy was disturbed from his meal and came to rest right on my chest, looking straight at me. It was only by chance that i had brought my camera - or perhaps not.

Moth in super-macro mode
This photo shows one of the drawbacks of the Canon PowerShot S2 IS' super-macro mode: it has very limited depth of field. You can see this most clearly on the screen on which it's perched: only about 20% of the width of the photo is in focus. Admittedly, a lot of this is due to camera position (beside the moth instead of directly above it), but sometimes (as in this case) holding the camera in a position directly above the subject can obscure the light source.
Bug on the door
This showed up on the inside of the kitchen door on Christmas Eve. I've no idea what sort of creature it is, but i can say that they're harmless and their wings, despite being transparent in most parts and appearing fragile, are quite resilient. I've picked up these insects in my fingers expecting them to crumble like moths, and they always fly away easily when i let go. If anyone can enlighten me as to their name, please drop a comment on this page and i'll update it accordingly.
Ladybug on a capsicum bush
From my parents-in-law's garden. Using the Canon PowerShot S2 IS' super-macro mode. The original of this might make a good desktop background.
